Badge & Sports Pins Information
- Badges are the hexagon awards that go on the front of the vest/sash. These can be earned with your unit during troop meetings, at special events, or independently.
- Sports Pins require you to learn specific information, methods, gear, etc. for a certain sport and practice that knowledge by participating actively in that sport.
What requirements and options do I need to do to complete a badge or Sports Pin?
- Badges
- Tenderhearts complete all the steps required plus ONE of the optional steps.
- Explorers complete all the required steps plus TWO of the optional steps.
- Pi/Pa’s complete all the required steps plus THREE of the optional steps.
- Sports Pins – ALL Requirements listed must be completed for each Sports Pin.
What do I need to do when I complete a requirement?
- Review it with your parent. Your parent will check off the requirement or option in your handbook, indicating that it has been done and on what date.
- Keep projects and photos of finished work to show during your badge interview and/or submit them on this form.
- What if a step requires that I make a troop presentation? Make arrangements with your leader to do so. Your leader will sign off after you present.
- Does school work count? Yes! Examples include science projects, social studies projects, music performances, etc. You may use only school work that you did while in your current level, while a member of AHG.
How do I earn a Badge or Sports Pin?
- Fill out this badge/sports pin record form. Then schedule a badge interview. (This step should be completed *by the girl* if at all possible.)
- Have a badge/sports pin interview.
- If a badge is done with your unit, no interview is necessary, since your leader will have already seen that the work was done. If you miss a requirement because of an absence, please review the completed work with your leader and have them submit it to the advancement team.
- If you do a badge or sports pin independently, you must schedule an interview with the your Unit Leader, the Advancement Coordinator, or another adult member (not your parent) to tell about your experiences.
- Get your form and book signed by the interviewer or your Unit Leader to show that you completed the badge/sports pin.
- Be on time. You must hold your badge/sports pin interviews and turn in forms before the due dates listed below to receive advancement recognition at the award ceremony.
- Extra Badges & Sports Pins. Any additional badges/sports pins completed outside of regular unit time or Troop scheduled events will be paid for by the girl member’s family at the current AHG Store price at the time of ordering.
Deadlines to remember…
April 6 – Deadline for form submission/interview for End of Year awards (held on 5/11/27).
For those pursuing a level award…
- January 26 – Make an appointment with the Advancement Coordinator, Troop Coordinator, or Vice Coordinator to discuss a plan for completing all requirements. Refer to the suggested calendar provided by AHG.
- March 2 – Give the Advancement Chair a copy of your filled-in (so far) Level Award page from your handbook. If you have not completed everything, please include your plans for the remaining requirements.
- March 2 – Schedule a board of review to take place on April 20, April 27, or arrange another time.
- April 27 – Last day for boards of review.
